THE TEAM
The Turkish national team is a team rife with controversy, from saluting the Turkish military to players threatening teammates with a gun - "The Crescent-Stars" are never at a loss for a headline. Only football headlines have been in short supply lately. The team, which has only qualified twice for a World Cup (1954 and 2022), has shone in recent years, mainly in showing disastrous performances at tournaments. At the last European Championship, for example, they were the worst team in the tournament.
THE SHIRT
I've never been a big fan of Turkish jerseys, but the current away jersey has piqued my interest with its modern but sleek design. The jersey is enhanced by the subtle patterns sewn into the fabric of the shirt, which are part of Nike's "Dry-FitADV" technology.
The shirt is from Turkey’s embarrassing defeat to the absolute underdogs from the Faroe Islands and was prepared for Leicester City (and former Bundesliga) defender Çağlar Söyüncü, who was unable to play the match due to injury.
