"Three lions on the shirt..." etc. etc....
The history of English football should be well known: supposed crossbar goals and trembling feet in penalty shoot-outs.
The history of English football jerseys is less exciting, however. Mostly kept in plain white, you have to look at the British away shirts for a bit of variety. So, one is always pleased when the respective manufacturer dares to do something special for the England team's alternative kit. In this case, Nike has succeeded:
In strikingly patterned shades of blue, it comes in the style of a polo shirt and features eye-catching neon red accents.
It was worn by/issued for striker Marcus Rashford during the narrow 1-0 victory in a friendly match against Romania, in which Rashford himself scored the decisive penalty. I received the jersey from an employee of the national team, who was kind enough to give me a few jerseys from his collection.
