Goalkeeper 2004/05
Matchprepared Angelo Peruzzi EURO 2004
Manufacturer: Puma
Source: Alexander Manninger's Collection
Although not the most spectacular goalkeeper jersey, the occasion for which this jersey was prepared for, was a special one: the EURO 2004.
The Italians do not look back on the tournament with any fondness: after two draws against Denmark and Sweden, they narrowly beat Bulgaria, but in the end were beaten by the Swedes and Danes on equal points due to their inferior goal difference and therefore did not make it to the quarter-finals.
The jersey was prepared for substitute goalkeeper Angelo Peruzzi, who did not play during the tournament. In contrast to the players' jerseys, it is made of a thicker fabric. The elegant red is embellished with golden details and player numbers. It also features the official EURO 2004 patches on the sleeves, which unlike other teams are not made of fabric. It comes from the collection of former Austrian international goalkeeper Alexander Manninger, who received it from Peruzzi during his time in Serie A.
